Comfort Inn

The Challenge

With more than 1,934 locations in the United States, Comfort Inn is one of America’s most popular hotel chains. They offer guests the perfect combination of high quality service and comfortable accommodations at a reasonable price. Due to high demands from its corporate accounts, Comfort Inn at Phoenix, Arizona was looking to provide high-speed Internet access as an amenity. They were on the verge of potentially losing accounts; Internet services were not ready for its business guests who were heavily accustomed to high-speed connectivity while on the road.

Comfort Inn had Internet broadband connection, but the problem they were facing was that they needed help setting up a network for their guests. After the Comfort Inn Managers discussed the situation, they called DextraNet, a premier hotel hospitality network provider, to help them come up with a network solution. With a low hotel budget and many different network solutions available in the market, DextraNet chose D-Link to fit their installation needs with low-cost and ease-of-setup.

The Solution

DextraNet’s network installers knew the D-Link wireless networking solution would be the easiest way to provide Internet service for the multi-story hotel. So they started by first splitting the Internet broadband connection into a public and private network using the D-Link DSA-3100 Airspot. The private network was connected to the D-Link DWL-1000AP+ wireless access point allowing access only to Comfort Inn employees, while public network was connected to the D-Link DES-3226SM to serve free Internet access to hotel guests.

Installers deployed two D-Link DWL-900AP+ access points in the middle of each wing: one on the first floor and one in the middle of third floor. They used the D-Link DWL-P100 Power-over-Ethernet adapter to run device power over the Ethernet cable access points, strategically located in the hotel room ceilings. In addition, for added network, the installers added the D-Link ANT24-0401 antennas to the access points to extend the coverage throughout the hotel.
