Down with Dial-Up!
Good Guys Tire Center, a California-based tire and auto repair company, was connecting its locations using a dial-up solution. Every time managers wanted to collect daily sales figures and perform inventory control, they had to hold their breath that the network would work (and wouldn’t take hours to download the data).
Because the dial-up network didn’t allow real-time performance, store managers would perform batch communications and manual credit card verification not linked until end-of-day batch runs.
Trying to connect seven locations to the Fresno corporate office was wasting time – and money. The Internet Zone, a New Edge Networks partner, presented a Frame Relay over DSL solution to Good Guys. While not network savvy (and without an IT department to depend on), Good Guys trusted The Internet Zone to configure and maintain the network. With New Edge’s highly reliable network and The Internet Zone’s technical expertise, the transition from dial-up to Frame over DSL went off without a hitch.
The New Edge Networks Solution
Thanks to The Internet Zone, Good Guys can now perform up-to-the-minute sales reporting and deduct daily sold items from a master inventory list. The new technology helps the company manage inventory and cost, allowing managers to have parts available on demand, and to re-stock items only as needed. Good Guys can also see sales trends and streamline cash flow.
Credit card transactions are now immediately logged, providing prompt clearinghouse reconciliation and streamlined payments.
With a stable, flexible network in place, Good Guys is now positioned to easily scale as they open more franchises. And because New Edge’s multi-site networking solutions are available nationwide, Good Guys can open locations anywhere in the country without compromising on performance, price, or security.
